Nobel laureate Yang Zhenning has been awarded the US China Outstanding Contribution Award!

On August 29, 2019, Wu Gaolin, Executive Vice Chairman of the US China Business Association, and his delegation visited Academician Yang Zhenning at the Institute of Advanced Studies at Tsinghua University, and presented the 5th "US China Outstanding Contribution Award" trophy and plaque to Academician Yang Zhenning on behalf of the US China Business Association!

Academician Yang Zhenning was awarded the 5th "Outstanding Contribution Award between the United States and China" and delivered his acceptance speech! He said, "I am very grateful to Wu Gaolin for presenting this award to me on behalf of the US China Business Association. I feel very honored. The US China Business Association is an organization that actively promotes peace, friendship, and development between China and the United States

Wu Gaolin mentioned: At that time, when the relationship between China and the United States had just loosened, Academician Yang Zhenning was the first Chinese scientist to return to China for a visit, making a great contribution to the talent exchange between the academic communities of China and the United States. At the same time, he also participated in the construction of China's first nuclear power plant, which is of great significance to our country. In addition, he also sorted out China's physics education, allowing us to have a deeper understanding of the world. Academician Yang Zhenning actively promoted cultural exchanges between China and the United States, and The mutual understanding between the Chinese and American people has made significant contributions to promoting the establishment of diplomatic relations, talent exchange, and scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries

Born in Hefei, Anhui Province on October 1, 1922, he is a world famous physicist. He is currently a chair professor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, a professor of Tsinghua University, an emeritus professor of the State University of New York, Shixi Branch, an academician of the CAS Member, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States, an academician of the Academia Sinica of Taiwan, an honorary academician of the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences, an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and a member of the British Royal Society. He won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1957.

Graduated from National Southwest Associated University in 1942; In 1944, obtained a master's degree from Tsinghua University; In 1945, he was awarded the Mu Ouchu Scholarship and went to study in the United States; In 1948, he received a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Chicago and served as a lecturer at the University of Chicago and a researcher at the Princeton Institute of Advanced Studies; In 1955, he served as a professor at the Institute of Advanced Academic Research in Princeton, USA; In 1966, he served as a professor and director of the Institute of Physics at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in the United States; In 1986, he was appointed as the Professor of Bowen Lecture at the Chinese University of Hong Kong; In 1998, he served as a professor at Tsinghua University; In 2017, Chinese nationality was restored; In 2018, he served as the Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors of West Lake University.

Yang Zhenning has made landmark contributions in particle physics, statistical mechanics and condensed matter physics. In the 1950s, he collaborated with R.L. Mills to propose the non Abelian gauge field theory; In 1956, he collaborated with Li Zhengdao to propose the law of non conservation of parity in weak interactions; A lot of pioneering work has been done in particle physics and statistical physics. Young Baxter equation has been proposed, which opens up a new direction for the study of quantum integrable systems and many body problems. Yang Zhenning also promoted the establishment of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Center for Advanced Research at Tsinghua University, the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at Nankai University, and the Center for Advanced Academic Research at Sun Yat sen University.
